Travelling outside your home country to another European Union Country and using your phone abroad is roaming – a term you all must be familiar with. Roaming takes extra charges besides paying for your standard plans, including data allowance, SMS texts, and call minutes. This article will discuss the dynamics of roaming charges in the European Union, more particularly mobile roaming in Cyprus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While before Brexit, Cyprus roaming charges, along with the rest of the European Union, were zero, things took a turn after Brexit. Since Brexit, all the big data operators, including Three, have reintroduced data roaming charges. It also removed some of the benefits under the Go Roam program that affected travel to not only the European Union countries but also other destinations like the US, Australia, and others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To get access to the mobile allowances in EU destinations, the customers of the Three must pay <\/span>\u00a3<\/span>2 per day, and the same holds in the case of mobile roaming in Cyprus. The cost increases to <\/span>\u00a35 with other Go Roam territories like Hong Kong and the United States. The reintroduction came into effect on May 23, 2022.
